Had a blast playing Meadowbrook with a few guys who have played the St. Louis Park stable numerous times, including plenty with no shirt. Twin Cities hockey radio icon Kevin Falness joined the group and didn’t leave without supplying one of his patented pranks as a thank you for the free round.
le sueur country club
There’s nothing better than a hidden gem. And thanks to a legendary friend, Le Sueur Country Club was unearthed. We will always miss Mike Ryan, but playing at Le Sueur reminds us of the best golf buddy there was.
The Wilds golf club
You can get over playing horrible golf so long as you play a good course, have a good guest, and see some wildlife. Fortunately, all of those things happened today at The Wilds in Prior Lake.

Oh, you came here to read about a golf course and not the championship run by the 2011 UMD Bulldogs Men’s team? Many apologies. But before I get to lovely Minnesota National, our special guest, Kyle Schmidt, brought back some fond memories of his favorite moment as a sports fan.

Yes, Dacotah Ridge is a great course. But when you play it like a musk ox, you might get stuck on things you noticed on the drive in. Like who is Dana Kiecker?

The Golf Loons made a stop at Theo Wirth in Minneapolis, along with guest, Topher Scott. Whatever your preconceptions are about Theo, get over them and go play the course. Just make sure you play all 18 holes.

It was a picturesque day on the EAST side. Yes, that’s right, the EAST side. The Golf Loons ventured across the river for the latest installment of the Golf Loons podcast. And they were joined by KFAN’s Brandon Mileski form The Common Man Progrum. There was nothing common about TennaB’s game this day. And you could say the same for Logger’s Trail, it is an uncommonly excellent course.

Chaska Town Course is typically considered one of the best public courses in the Metro area. Some might even consider it the “Gail Stanwyk of metro area public golf courses.”
Deer Run Golf Club
When I talk about Deer Run, I always use the word, “fun.” And I hate using that word because Dear God, please let me be a little more creative than that. But it really is a fun course. It’s not an architectural marvel. It doesn’t have many holes where you can’t believe the view or the scenery. Yet, each hole is fair, well done and yes, fun.
the meadows at mystic lake
I love this course. I don’t know if it’s beloved by traditionalists or not. The things I love about it are probably things that make some roll their eyes. One of the things I love is how each course has a name that has meaning to the local Native American tribe. Many are named after animals: Bear, Eagle, Moose, Fox…you get the idea. If the hole is named after an animal, then you’ll find a statue of that animal somewhere along the hole. My favorite is Bear, which has two Bear statues standing in the creek that affects your approach shot to the green. I loved it.
